Description:

Guayusa Cacao blend draws inspiration from a shared reverence of sacred rituals, crafting a flavor where the whisperers of the Amazon rainforest meet the ancient cacao ceremonies of the Mayans. Each cup invites you into a tale of tradition, luxury, and a celebration of nature's bounties. Davidson's Guayusa Cacao offers fresh Guayusa with velvety cacao with herbal undertones, reminiscent of ancient rituals and splendor.

Origin:

Guayusa Cacao Origin Julian, a member of the Saraguro tribe, drinking his guayusa tea. The Kichwa people nicknamed guayusa, “Night Watchman” because they believed it keeps you awake (even while asleep, you are aware of your surroundings). They also believed guayusa caused hypnotic effects that induced lucid dreams, which foretold the successfulness of hunting expeditions.

History:

From the heart of the Amazon rainforest, the Kichwa tribes have long regarded Guayusa as a leaf of enlightenment and vitality. Traditionally, indigenous societies brew guayusa leaves much like tea, as it contains an intricate makeup of antioxidants, theobromine, L-theanine and caffeine, with its functional attributes providing a focused, cognitive energy while alleviating stress. Our stimulating, long lasting, clean caffeinated guayusa leaves are responsibly and ethically sourced through cooperatives and associations of indigenous smallholder farmers across Ecuador and Peru, to ensure a stable and diversified income for our farming communities and the environmental conservation of the Amazon rainforest.*
