Description:

Davidson's Haathi (the Hindi word for "elephant") Malty Assam is a full-bodied black tea from the famed Banaspaty Tea Estate in India.

Taste:

A bold black tea with a malty finish.

Origin:

Davidson’s organic black tea in this blend comes from our Certified Elephant Friendly™ tea estate, Banaspaty, located in the Karbi-Along Hills of upper Assam, close to the Nagaland border in the tribal heartland of northeast India. The rich, densely forested hills adjacent to the tea garden are home to a myriad of rare and endangered wildlife. The ancient movement corridors of elephants are shown on the map of the tea garden, and elephants move undisturbed on several regular routes through sections of the tea garden. The farm’s community prides itself on its efforts towards peaceful coexistence with wild elephants, and the calm acceptance of the presence of elephant herds makes this a true sanctuary. This remote tea garden is not only off the beaten path, but a world apart from other tea gardens. Banaspaty holds the following certifications: Elephant Friendly™, USDA Organic, Fair Trade, and is a member of the Ethical Tea Partnership.
Ingredients:

Organic black tea.

Brewing:

  1. Bring fresh, filtered water to a boil.
  2. Add 2 grams of tea to a infuser, or straight into an 8-oz. mug.
  3. Pour the heated water into the mug.
  4. Steep for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Strain tea leaves, or take out the infuser.
  6. Sip and enjoy Davidson’s organic tea.

We were using Assam Banaspaty but wanted to try this elephant friendly version. We made the switch after taht. This is a clean and bold tasting tea taht delivers the "wake up and smell the roses" energy we need.

I LOVE ALL DAVIDSON'S TEAS...EXCEPT THIS ONE
johnnyjohnny (Canoga Park, CA) 9/20/2024 2:17 PM
have to unfortunately say this tea is redolent of used gym socks. i love black teas and tea blends, but this (pun intended) knocked my socks off with its stinky taste. note: i'm not picky, i love every other tea and blend of Davidson's. this was ycccch-ville.
