Houjicha (Loose Leaf)

Description:

Houjicha is a traditional style of Japanese green tea made with pure bancha tea leaves from the autumn and winter harvests. Its uniqueness comes from an additional hot roasting step that transforms bancha tea leaves into light to dark brown leaves resulting in an amber-red infusion brew. It is soft on the palate with a balanced, delicate finish.

Houjicha is a smooth flavor with accents of chocolate and toasted barley.


Origin:

Kirishima region (Kagoshima, Japan), also known as "tensonkourin" in Japanese myths, is deeply shrouded in fog, as the name describes ("Kiri" = fog, "shima"), and grows fragrant and delicious teas at an altitude ranging from 350 to 500 meters above sea elevation.

Ingredients:

Organic green tea.


Brewing:

1. Heat fresh, filtered water just short of the boiling point.
2. Add 2 grams of tea to an infuser, or straight into an 8-oz. mug.
3. Pour the heated water into the mug.
4. Steep for 2-3 minutes.
5. Strain tea leaves, or take out the infuser.
6. Sip and enjoy Davidson’s organic tea.
   
7. Note: Use lower water temperature and enjoy multiple infusions to get the most from this tea.
