ICED TEA BREWING TIPS
Iced tea’s uses are endless. You can serve it at your gatherings, BBQs, events, lunches, and pretty much any time you have guests over! Davidson’s iced tea is also a healthy and delicious alternative drink that young children will enjoy. And not to mention, nothing beats the summer heat more than a refreshing glass of fresh-brewed iced tea.
So how do you go about brewing the perfect batch of iced tea? You can easily buy any of our Iced-tea brew bags designed for brewing a quart of iced tea at a time, but did you know that you can also use our hot tea bags and our loose-leaf tea to make iced tea? Iced Tea Quart Sized Brew Bags
Bring fresh water to a boil. Add 1 brew bag to one quart of water in a heat proof container. Remove tea bag/strain tea leaves, and let infused tea cool to room temperature. Serve over ice or chill. Discard unused iced tea after 48 hours. Multiply proportions of iced tea brew bags to make larger quantities.
Type of tea/ Brewing time
Green Teas: 2-3 mins. with water just under boiling point
White Teas: 3-5 mins. with water just under boiling point
Herbs/Herbal Teas/Red Teas: 5-7 mins. with boiling water
Black/Oolong Teas: 3-5 mins. with boiling water
Amount of Iced Tea Desired
1 quart (serves 4 people) = 1 brew bag
1 gallon (serves 16 people) = 4 brew bags
For each additional gallon, add 4 brew bags
Hot Tea Bags
Bring fresh water to a boil. Add 1 tea bag to one cup of water (8oz) in a heat proof container. Remove tea bag/strain tea leaves, and let infused tea cool to room temperature. 1 gallon (serves 16 people) = 32 rounded teaspoons (or 2/3 cup)
